Me thinkes I lyed all winter when I swore,
My love was infinite, if spring make'it more.

John Donne
Loves Growth

There is much more to this wonderful poem, to the wonderful body of work written by John Donne. But this couplet seems to have been calligraphied, acid-etched and burnished into my memory.

I will have to check out this poet. I'm not familiar with his work.

John Donne 1572-1631
Licencious, romantic, religious and metaphysical.

Possibly the most famous words he wrote were just scribbled in the margin of a book, when realizing that marrying the woman whom he loved, and who loved him, might destroy his career. "John Donne, Anne Donne, Undonne." He married her anyway.
