And, the circle, when it was first planted, 2 years ago. The angles of the photos are different, so its hard to tell, but the trees were all about 18 to 24 inches tall when we planted them, now the trees are all about 6 feet tall and beginning to fill in at the sides. In another couple of years, we will have to think about replacing the grass with a different ground cover. But there will be a lovely semblance of privacy.

I was wondering how that was turning out! It looks great! Isn't it going to be magnificent when the trees are even larger and your circle is fully enclosed (except for the entrance of course? Very elegant!
We've done a similar thing here but placed a standing stone in the center. Instead of a circle we've made a triquetra out of chamomile and corsican mint so we can walk on it. (our winters are milder so we can get away with the tender perennials)
Thanks for sharing the pictures, very inspiring!
Hi, Susanne
I'm going to have to research ground covers to replace the grass, pretty soon. The chamomile and the mint must smell wonderful when you walk on them. Alas, not only would our winters be a problem for plants like that, but they just wouldn't get enough sun. I don't know if you can see it in the more recent picture, but in the center of the circle is a flat stepping stone-it has a lovely compass rose etched and colored into it. Do you have pictures up of your triquetra?
