A Pair of Mysteries

First:

Tuesday night, during my Full Moon work, I asked that I be told where I should place my "Thank You" offerings at the next (Harvest) Full Moon. That night I had a very clear and vivid dream, and I am pretty sure that the answer is here, if I could only tease it out.

I was sitting in a restaurant, at a long table. Crowded together at
the head of the table were my two daughters, my (deceased)Grandmother and myself. I remember feeling quite impatient and hungry in the dream. Finally, the waitress (who, in "real" life owns the restaurant) brought to the table a single, hard boiled egg. My Grandmother took it and placed it in front of herself, halved it, but didn't eat it. My younger daughter, knowing I was hungry picked it up to pass it to me, but my Grandmother took it from her and said, "It isn't for you" and put it down again at her place.

Eggs, and hard boiled eggs have many symbolic meanings. To most, the clearest meaning of the egg (at least the non-hard boiled variety) is that of fertility. To Jews, and those of Jewish background and learning, it is also a symbol of the sacrifice given at the Temple in Jerusalem. By extension, the hard boiled egg is generalized to be a symbol of sacrifice and also of mourning, because the Temple is no more.

So what is my Grandmother trying to tell me?

Second:

How is it that this blog gains readers when I don't post? I'm not complaining, mind you, but it does surprise.

I just looked in my dream dictionary and I didn't come up with much. I'd ask for more guidance tonight and see if there's a clearer picture.

Eggs, for me, are an offering for Hekate. They also are used for cleansings. For me they symbolize birth, the beginning of something, nourishment and life. When used for offerings, I leave them at a hedge which I have used for this purpose for sometime.

I've noticed the same thing. I haven't posted in days and come back to find four need subscribers.

Sounds like you need to give the thank you offering to your ancestors. Of course that's who and not where, but maybe the who will tell you where...

first- was Grandma telling you to leave an offering where a temple used to be? There's no reason you can't mix a little judaism with paganism- Judaism seems pretty mystical to me. (I know very little of it- but I do know the Hebrew bible says "When the GODS created the earth"

second- people read back posts and decide they like you. I find myself friending blogs by reading all their old posts (yes- all) and then realizing that they stopped posting months ago- it makes me sad.

When I look at this dream, I see three generations of women, with a generation missing. Where's you mother?

The next puzzle is: why does your grandmother cut the egg in half? I am reminded of the initial cell division after an egg cell is fertilized. That first division is the start of division that doubles the number of cells again and again until there are billions.

Just some avenues to explore.

I will be away for the weekend, so I won't be able to do much follow-up for a couple of days. But I do want to say "Thank you" to Scribbler for pointing out what should have been obvious to me!
