So...in the last 6 weeks, I've researched the Persephone myths. (did you know that in the earliest myths, she is described as "Dread Persephone?" Nothing about abducted maiden, that comes somewhat later. And, it was the Romans who added the bit about rape) I've read, and reread "The Descent of Innana." That lead me to wonder-if the oldest written version of this story dates to 1,000 years after the construction of her temple, what possible changes to her story occurred during that time? Originally, was she rescued by her grandfather? Or did she effect her own ascent? And, by doing some research on Isis, I've been hit over the head with the Osiris stories.
Anyone care to guess where my passport has been stamped, lately?
